This unique Freckles doll has beautiful greenish-color eyes, bright ginger hair and freckles on her nose. She is wearing her original Uneeda gown, with the Uneeda donut snaps on the back of the dress. She is 30 inches tall and is a heavy vinyl doll. Shoes are most likely not original but they are the old Cinderella style vinyl shoes so they may be valuable all on their own.
Her dress has sheer perma-pleated sleeves. The front of the dress has more of the sheer organza for decoration. She is 30 inches tall. Rooted hair. Eyes are bright, she has all her lashes.
This doll may be from the late 1950's. Her neck says UNEEDA and nothing else but the materials she's made with and the style of her gown suggest late 50's or very EARLY 1960's.
Uneeda made the Disney Pollyanna and Fairy Princess dolls with a similar body style: this Freckles doll may have preceded them or might have been introduced around the same time, which was 1962.
This Freckles doll has the slender hourglass figure that was used by many doll companies. Madame Alexander used a similar body for their Mimi dolls, Uneeda used a similar body for the Disney Fairy Princess and Pollyanna dolls, Eegee sold a similar large doll with this attractive body style. I believe American Character used it for their large Betsy McCall doll. And Uneeda used it the most, I believe, as they made similar walker dolls for almost 20 years.
