Blabby Brunette - Vinyl NOISY DOLL with Cloth Body-Sleeve
Although Blabby is generally known as a 1962 all vinyl doll by Uneeda, she might have been introduced earlier than that in this body sleeve version of the doll. THIS Blabby doll is made like the 1950s Wiggles babydoll, which had an oilcoth body sleeve or possibly a type of plastic fabric. Underneath the Body Sleeve is a vinyl torso. I've had several of these unusual Blabby dolls, so she's not a frankenstein that some doll collector assembled.
When you squeeze the body, the doll squeaks or squawks. Wiggles makes a sort of wheezy baby cry. But Blabby gives a very loud squawky squeal when you squeeze her. People usually laugh when they hear Blabby start to blabble!
Wiggles and this particular model of Blabby were made in a very unique way - Blabby is all vinyl with a body sleeve to hold the arms and legs onto the body. This makes the doll sort of floppy like a newborn, and more cuddly too since shes not rigid.
Blabby does have sleepy eyes, whereas Wiggles has fixed eyes. Blabby has the same sculpted arms and legs that the all-vinyl Blabby has. She is approximately 18 inches long, but that depends on how the cloth body stretches when you measure. Blabby and Wiggles are the same size, but Wiggles body-sleeve is more roomy, so her legs can stretch out an inch or two more than Blabby - even though the vinyl pieces are identical in size. The vinyl arms and legs on both of these dolls is very good, with nice color.
