Baby Dollikin Brunette Pretty Face 1950's extra Joints
This pretty doll is Baby Dollikin from the 1950's. She is jointed at neck, shoulders, hips, elbows, wrists and knees. This was a deluxe babydoll made around 1958 or 1959. She was made at the same time as Dewdrop (a crybaby tears doll), Baby Go-Go, Purty, Yummy, Prithilla and other popular babydolls by Uneeda.
Baby Dollikin is 21 inches tall. She is held together with metal spring joints and hinges, which is an unusual method of construction AND it means that these dolls frequently have some rust at the joints. As long as they're kept dry it doesn't seem to be a problem, other than a little bit of discoloration.
Baby Dollikin is an all vinyl doll, with a soft vinyl head and heavier vinyl throughout the rest of the body. The vinyl often has swirls in it, and it's not unusual to find little specks of debris: all of which is from the manufacturing process so these things are not considered defects. It is what it is.
Baby Dollikin is very popular with collectors because (despite her minor faults) she is an exceptionally pretty babydoll. She dresses up beautifully because of her long neck, tall body and very pretty face.
She has large sparkly eyes with full lashes (eyes are blinky eyes and they do work.) She has a small sweet smile and little dimples beside her eyes, as well as full rosy cheeks. (Baby Dollikins are my favorite baby doll from the 1950's, by far.)
This doll has some small issues: one wrist was a little loose so I slid a couple of small rubber bands in the joint and that solved the problem. (This is a good trick to know if your doll has floppy joints.)
One wrist has a small black spot of debris that's in the vinyl. I put makeup concealer over it.
And, there is some rust in the joints as mentioned earlier.
There are no odors: the doll is clean and in good refurbished condition. However, none of my dolls are pristine: most of my dolls have a history of being played-with, which means they are likely to have minor spots or blemishes here and there.
On the bright side, Baby Dollikin's dark brown hair is in nice condition and there are no bald spots. Her eyes are bright and sparkly with full lashes. Face color is especially pretty. The head of this doll is especially nice and makes up for some of the other minor problems with the body.
