Plummy Splash or Union Maid 1974 Uneeda 14" Orange Hair.
Doll collectors don't know much about this cutie, nor how to spell her name. I've seen many variations: Plummie Splash, Plummy Splash, Plummee Splash, Plumpee Splash, Plumpie Splash or Little Miss Union Maid. Made in 1974 by Uneeda Doll Company. Doll is one piece vinyl (including the head) and is 14 inches tall. She's a squeaker and most likely was a bathtub toy. She's in good, clean, played-with condition. The vinyl has some marks, scuffs due to age - but you can see that the molded hair has very few rubs.
This doll resembles the Campbell's Soup Kids somewhat and I suspect the same artist created them both. This doll was sold as "Plummee Splash" according to the doll books but I've never seen one in an original box so I have always wondered if that's her real name. I did find one with an original outfit one time: she was wearing a simple sunsuit and she had a ribbon sash that said she was "Little Miss Union-Maid." So she seemed to be an advertising doll of some kind. The doll is generally known as Plummee Splash with doll collectors though.
She is supposed to be a squeaker but the little squeak thing is not in its hole on the back of her head. The outfit is not original but it fits her nicely. The dolls did have different haircolors. This one with her bright orange hair is somewhat more rare. I've also seen yellow-blonde hair and brown hair.
Because she's not a true Campbell's Kid dolly, Plummee Splash isn't as valuable as some people hope she is. This doll also resembles the Dolly Dingle series but I don't think she was ever a Dolly Dingle either.
