Needa Toddles Mama Doll - 1950's Large Transitional Hard Plastic & Vinyl Walker.
This is an awesome doll! She is so unusual and in such good condition! She is obviously from the 1950's but she's such a mixture of materials... The body is a hard plastic type of material. The head is of nice vinyl that has not discolored. The arms and legs are made of very nice vinyl too but it's a somewhat different material because they have turned tan: darkened some with age. It's a pretty color, though. The head is rooted with that "new-fangled" saran hair that could be washed and set. Hair is still like new.
The vinyl is inserted into metal pieces at the top of the leg. The rear view shows the metal walking mechanism, as well as a closeup of how the vinyl is inserted into hard plastic or metal or something at the top of the leg.
This doll is a walker type: if you hold her hand she will walk with you. I think this particular walker mechanism is fairly unusual though.
She seems to be in exceptionally good condition considering she's nearly 70 years old. I doubt she was actually played with. Clothing is not original but it is vintage, made in the 1960's.
She was wearing a hat when I got her, so her hair is clean and this photo shows that her scalp is clean but it looks as if she's bald. But then I noticed that none of the plugs are missing, so either the hat flattened her hair down or she's not rooted as thick on top as on the sides: or possibly some of both.
She is 22 inches tall and she can wear real-baby clothing, so this little Missy will be fun to dress and play with. She is a heavy doll (nearly 4 pounds all by herself.)
What a wonderful, happy face on this old babydoll! She's thrilled to be your best new friend!
