Big Eye dolls were made in the 1960's, early 1970's. They were part of the "Big Eye" fad, inspired by artists such as Eden, Eve, Margaret Keane, Gig and many others. The Big Eye artists painted children and animals with huge sad eyes. Blythe was made by Hasbro in the 1970's and is one of the most popular of all the Big Eye Dolls. Her eyes change colors when you pull a string on her back. Blythe dolls have a big head and a stick figure body: sort of a Lollipop shape. Blythe Dolls were made by the Ashton Drake Company for a few years, approximately 2009-2010. They did an excellent job of recreating the dolls so they looked very much like the original Blythe dolls.
