Petal People by Uneeda
Uneeda made several Petal People series. Some were very small and similar to the popular Liddle Kiddles. The small dolls were made in 1968. Other Petal People collectibles (such as the doll in this listing) are larger and have a troll style vinyl body that is one piece. The head turns, but the arms and legs are not jointed. The Petal People do not have the Wishnik logo on the bottoms of the feet. They are 6 inches tall.
The large 6 inch Petal People dolls were introduced in 1964 with a PeeWee face. The PeeWees were another collectible series by Uneeda: they were small pocket dolls. When Uneeda brought the Petal People back (20 years later in 1983) the PeeWee face style was replaced with a cute Pixie Fairy face. Uneeda used the Pixie face on many different play dolls and souvenir dolls, down through the years.
So, the Petal People are a combo of other popular dolls by Uneeda. And they are very cute dolls. They're a nice stocky size that is fun to play with and large enough to sew for.
The 1964 Petal People have rooted hair, and the 1983 Petal People have molded hair.
The Petal People each represent specific flowers: Daffodil, Daisy, Orchid, Tulip, Rose etc.
The Petal People may have been produced in other years but 1964, 1968 and 1983 are the only dates I can find in my personal collection of Petal People.
