At the time these dolls were sold, there was a real bouncy baby swing seat for infants. It was very popular during the 1960's. The bouncy seat had a long cord that attached over the frame of a doorway. Babies loved it! They could bounce up and down on the floor, and exercise their legs. (The bouncy seat was eventually discontinued, most likely in favor of safer contraptions.) Unless you already knew about the original bouncy seat, you might not understand this playset. The real bouncy seats had a much more comfortable sling for the infant.
The doll in this playset is very pretty, with red hair and aqua blue eyes andpeachy-creamy face coloring.
Look closely at the face: does she remind you of anyone? This face mold was also used for the popular Pussycat dolls by Madame Alexander. Uneeda made dolls with this face, and so did the Goodtimes Company in Canada. There may have been others. But it was Madame Alexander who made this lovely face so very popular, and gave her a name. Pussycat is still being made by the Madame Alexander company today.
